How to turn what you know into money by selling it on the internet

small business accounting software

I use video to help my customers not just learn new skills and master new ways of using my low cost alternative to small business accounting software packages like QuickBooks or Peachtree but to teach them other useful business skills such as people management and planning. I am amazed more people are not using this really easy way to turn what they know into content and start selling it through the internet to the connected market. The best approach is to channel your efforts into creating your own product as when you sell it all of the proceeds or profits are going to be yours to keep.

Creating and delivering video online is now incredibly simple and the significance of its popularity is epitomised by the number of videos available from YouTube and in downloadable podcasts. These platforms are absolutely brilliant for selling, promoting and building a reputation for whatever information products you have in mind, regardless of whether its how to upgrade your airline seat or replace your small business accounting software.

The best instructional videos I have seen have always been produced using a technique called storyboarding this helps you decide and refine how you to best share your knowledge with your audience. If you have slides created in microsoft powerpoint or apple keynote that contain your some of your knowledge then this an excellent place for you to begin creating your first video. I am a great believer in doing as much as is possible without spending any money what so ever and gaining confidence in your idea and making some money before you start, I call this getting the rope across the river.

I have tried loads of other tools and experienced a lot of pain doing this and by far the best tool I have used and still use today is TechSmith Camtasia Studio as it will produce videos in YouTube, Podcast, Windows Media Player and Quicktime formats and it has a great library of tutorials which you should watch first (whatever you do, do not download the 30 day trail yet). The reason I said not to download the TechSmith software yet was to make sure you maximised your use of the trial to create and sell your first video.

OK this was a brief overview of what tools you have to have to hand and get to grips with and in the next lesson which hopefully will be published on this blog in the next few days (owners permitting) I will go through a detailed description of how I create my small business accounting software videos.
